BBQ Sauce – an easy quick recipe
I have been asked many times what is the best home made barbecue sauce recipe you have ever tasted. I always say the same thing.
The barbecue sauce I made. By the way – I make several different styles depending on what it is being applied to and they are all better than yours.
It may sound conceited at first glance but it really isn’t. There is a simple reason I think my bbq sauces are the best I have ever tasted. It’s because I make it according to my palate. Sure most of them are based on my father’s recipes but even Dad and I had a little different tastes. My taste buds lean slightly more to the spicy side than Dad’s did, so I tweak them that way.
I have a few sauces that take hours to make, if you count the time it takes to make the brown sauce base for the sauce or render fat from a beef brisket. But I also have a very good simple, tomato based sauce, anyone can make in a few minutes.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
- 32 ounces ketchup
- 8 ounces water
- 1/2 Liquid Smoke
- 1/2 Tablespoon Black Pepper
- 1/2 Teaspoon Dry Mustard
- 1/2 Tablespoon White Wine
- 3 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
Heat water on medium heat until it steams. Add all ingredients except ketchup to water. When brown sugar dissolves into water add ketchup. Simmer on low heat for 10 minutes. If you don't have white wine or don't want to use wine, substitute vinegar or pickle juice.
